Database Visibility

Databases can be visible only to you or shared with other users. You can specify the visibility of a database at the time you add it to the list of databases in Liberty Reports. The following table describes the options that are available:

VisibilityOption in New Database WizardDescription
WorkbookThis workbook onlyThe database will be visible only within the context of the current workbook. Use this option if there is a database that you wish to access only with a given report and you don't want to add that database to the list for other reports or users to use.
UserThis workbook and other workbooks used under my user nameThe database will be visible only to you on the current computer you are using. Use this option for databases that you want to have on your own private list of databases.
ComputerThis workbook and other workbooks used on this computerThe database will be visible to any user who uses the current computer. This may be applicable for databases that are stored locally and could not be accessed from another computer.
NetworkThis workbook and other workbooks used by other users on the networkThe database will be visible to all users because the database list is stored in a centtral location on your network that is accessed by all users of Liberty Reports. This option is recommended when you will have multiple users of Liberty Reports all reporting information from the same database(s).

Best Practice - Make all databases visible on the network unless there is a reason to restrict its visibility for certain users.
